I think this place is going to be a hit. I'm not exactly a coffee afficianado but I know just enough to be dangerous. I recognize quality when I see it and more importantly, taste it. That said, I was a little skeptical when I saw a place called Urban Bean opening in what is very much the suburbs. Name aside, this place really has me impressed. They source their excellent coffee from Counter Culture Coffee roasters in Durham, NC. counterculturecoffee.com I understand they are now one of only five coffee shops in Florida serving up these beans. I tried two cups of coffee during my visit today, the first was a vanilla latte and the second was a hand pour-over dark roast "#46" to be exact. The vanilla latte was very sweet but of good quality and I think perfect for those who like the milky sugary drinks. The pour-over dark roast #46 was what really won me over, however. I drank it black and it was perfect: Very clean but full and complex, with a bit of a smoky taste without being burnt or bitter. Just excellent. Beyond coffee this place has a wide-ranging food menu well beyond the typical handful of pastry items at most cafés. I have not yet sampled the food but I saw several sandwiches and salads being served and they all looked freshly prepared in-house with good attention to detail. I will certainly be back to try breakfast and lunch. One caveat: They were not yet officially open when I visited today and there were a handful of menu and drink items that were not yet available. They are doing a soft opening while they train their employees so be please be patient with them while they learn the ropes. I'm certain you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely love this place! First off the atmosphere is so cool, kind of rustic. Definitely unique. Then the service is amazing, the employees and management are so friendly and helpful. Making sure you enjoy everything you order. Then the coffee is just outstanding, I had a caramel latte, my husband had an Americano, and my niece has a mocha steamer. All of it was so fresh and delicious. Also the food was amazing! My niece did their "make your own donut" and she got a donut with peanut butter spread on it, chocolate chips, and chocolate sauce. DELICIOUS! Then my husband got the caramel sticky bun with was super yummy. And I got a waffle boat that had Nutella spread on the oblong waffle, topped with banana, and homemade butterscotch sauce. And my daughter had a plain donut and it was all so good. The what I assume was a manager, noticed we paid the wrong amount for the plain donut and came to our table and gave us cash back. We didn't even notice! And they kept making sure everything was delicious. So I have zero complaints about this place! I will be a frequent customer!

Tried their frappe for the first time yesterday & fell in love!!! Not too sweet, perfect amount of bold coffee flavor. I had the chocolate frappe, but they have several different ones. Much better than Starbucks! Better taste, better quality ingredients!

Yay Orange Park for having a cool semi-hipster, grown-up friendly coffee house that serves amazing desserts and awesome coffee. Extensive menu and great new establishment for the area. And I love the options for ample indoor and plenty of covered outdoor seating. This is a huge plus since even my favorite Riverside cafes lack those viable and valuable features. The Layout: They owners made great use of the entire space including the large wooden window benches that optimize seating and bring in plenty of light to create an intimate yet capacious setting with a terrific unpretentious vibe. The Beverages: I ordered their Roobios drink (hot) which was like a smooth tea latte perfectly sweetened and absolutely rich. It was a decadent treat for those who want to, on occasion, switch up from their coffee addiction...a great recommendation from the staff. But don't worry. I still had to try their coffee since it's only available here locally or on the brand's website. A bag of whole fresh roasted coffee beans is available now for $14.99, I believe. I tried the large (16-20oz.) caramel frappe and you can really taste the quality of the coffee used to blend this drink. Both my mom & brother loved it more than its SB counterpart, so we'll probably be needing a punchcard for that one. It is definitely another winner. Yum. The Goods: There's a story behind the caramel buns they serve here that was started, but quickly ended since at that moment I honestly didn't care. I knew at first sight, this was no ordinary bun and would quickly become my favorite. The caramel bun is a "must eat one there and take another one to-go" because you're going to want another ten minutes after sharing the first. It's a generous spiraling pastry drenched with gooey golden sticky rich caramel glaze that is absolutely delicious. It pairs perfectly with a black coffee and best served up warm. Ask them to scrape up more of that caramel for you and drown more on top. Tiffany, my server, gladly did so for me. She was an absolute gem with an outstanding attitude. :) Other items to try (see pics): Maple Bacon Donut & White Chocolate Cardamom Donut. Both excellent. Overall, this place is a diamond in the land of corporate chains. It just opened and I'm pretty impressed with everything so far. I look forward to trying more of their specialty pastries and vegan donuts. And, of course, the cold coffee brew.... FYI: They also have a lunch menu I will have to sample next time around. With great food, quality beverages and awesome service, this place will be a new OP (& Fleming Island) favorite. Can't wait to go back. Seriously. 5-Stars : )

Finally was able to try this new establishment and I had two of my kids with me. We have driven by this place so much and kept forgetting to stop. Not sure if it's because of the location or how dark the building sign looks, just doesn't seem inviting from the street. I had to add this to my To-do list, so we were able to stop. Anywho, we went in and on the inside it was a bit dim. There was a group playing Ukuleles and singing. They sounded awful!!! I guess they came there to practice and have coffee as the place was empty from other customers on the inside. On to the menu, all I wanted was a regular Iced Coffee and ended up with a blended iced coffee, not my kind of coffee. Ended up giving that to my daughter. Bottom line, their menu is not easy to understand, but if you want hot coffee or cocoa this is your spot. I did not like fact how expensive the iced/frozen drinks are based on their size. My son ordered one of the cookies. He did not like it :(. The young ladies behind the counter seemed tired and did not want to help explain anything further with the drinks or sandwiches of which that was fine. It was a little after 1pm and I can understand they probably were tired. Maybe we came on a very off day but regardless there should be consistency. Back to Starbucks I go!

Urban Bean is a fun and yummy café right across from the Town of OP grounds (where the fall festival is held). I am not a coffee person, but I am a tea person so that is what I went there for after church on Sunday, tea and a pastry. I am glad this café is not on my way to work, whooo that would be tempting. I got a small locally grown tea (how neat is that?) with honey (honey=$1 extra) and a PB & J w/ bananas donut. Oh, the donut was so good. It had a cake-y texture. I did have it maybe, about over an hour after I bought it and it was still good. It was also sharing size. Urban Bean is also really nice inside and out, but not uncomfortably nice. There is a fireplace, outdoor seating and a nice laid back vibe. Also, they have a drive-thru, but I would suggest going in at least once to check it out. I highly recommend Urban Bean for someone who is looking for a nice café.

Awesome spot. The service and people are friendly. It's awesome. The cinnamon bun is super super super sweet, I suggest sharing it with others. And the coffee is legit. The inside and outside are comfortable to chill. I'll definitely come here daily every time I come back to visit Jax.

Ok, so first off, I'm gonna say that this is a 3.5 star rating rounded up to 4. That out of the way, I'm gonna go ahead and profess that I'm not exactly a coffee person....ok I'm NOT a coffee person. I don't know this bean from that bean or the difference between a regular cup of joe and one with a "pour over." *shrugs* I dunno, guess i just never acquired the taste for it. So as I watched The Urban Bean come to life over the months, I wasn't exactly leaping with anticipation. To me...it was just another coffee joint. Meh. And thennnnnn they opened up and I started reading review after review of their exceptional pastries, donuts, etc. Oh reeeeally? Now we're talking. At that point, it was game on. The Vibe: Wow. It's rustic, it's woodsy...it's a shock that there's not a HGTV logo painted on the walls. They sure didn't design this overnight, that's for sure. I especially love the fireplace in the corner and the comfy plush chairs surrounding a table in front of it. The hightop table facing the window is my fave though, since I like to relax and observe the outside world while dining solo. In my opinion, the layout is downright magnificent. The Goodies: Before I even glanced at the bakery case I went ahead and skimmed over the menu. Handcrafted juices and sodas, teas, and as i figured...every coffee drink imagineable. As for the breakfast options....ehhhh...i'll pass. Why? It's simple. I saw egg whites...I saw veggies...I saw bagels....I just...cannot. I'm a" runny-egg with a pile of bacon and a side of greasy hash browns" kind of person. The menu here has alot to offer...just not to me. To each his own, though. On to the task at hand. I like the unique look about their pastries. You can definitely tell that they wanted to go against the grain and stand apart from the norm of everyday cafes as far as appearance. My first selection was the white chocolate cardamom, which is described as a cake donut. From the first bite...I didn't get that. It was too dense in texture for me to say that it was a donut. Cake? Yes. Donut? Not quite. Lets try again...I attempted to order the raised donut (that's on the menu)...but was told I couldn't...because they haven't developed a recipe for it yet?...............WHY does this stuff only happen to ME? Very well, I built my own cake donut with pecans, toasted coconut and caramel sauce. *shakes head* Heavy...dry. Even when generously dipped in the caramel. Oh well...I tried. And So: They're a brand spankin' new local business and it's apparent they have a few kinks to work out, recipes to develop...recipes to... experiment with *whispers cake donut*, so i'm all for stopping in later on down the road to see how things are going and to show them some support. The staff here are very knowledgeable and are quick to politely answer any questions one might have about the business and the menu, and to offer suggestions based on your preferences. Extra star for that, so kudos! Now...don't get me wrong Yeeps, I'm not saying that they're not worth a try. Just the decor alone is worth the trip so I definitely don't regret this experience. Please go ahead and stop in, welcome them to the neighborhood, show them some love, and have a cup of joe. Till next time, as always, support your local eats and SYOY!

    There were so many options, I was a bit lost. I asked the girl to make one and surprise me...the tea was delicious! Rooibos tea with almond milk and raw peach honey! Never had a tea so good! So happy to a gem in the OP area. Highly recommend! {skip the starbucks and go organic/local}

Finally Orange Park gets a inovated restaurant.I dont have to drive up to Riverside. Love the decor inside and all the outside seating as well. Menu choices are numerous. I had the cheesy egg on a whole wheat tortilla and of course a cup of coffee which was very good. I will probably be checking in here quite often!

"Sorry! We don't have mugs." They own an expensive espresso machine. You'd think they could afford a set of little mugs.

I have been to this coffee shop about 3 times now and each time I am very impressed. When I first walked in I was flabbergasted by what they have done with the place, it is a rustic meeting a modern feel which really makes the place feel homie! I have had their, honey cinnamon black tea, mocha frappe, and a green tea frappe and they were all very delicious but was a bit expensive. For two green tea frappe is about $10. They only have one size which is between a small and a medium it was almost disappointing not being able to pick out a size that would fit my need for coffee. Urban bean is also a great and friendly environment. There are many tables for people to sit on their laptops and surf the web while drinking coffee and also tables for friends to catch up on recent gossip.

  • Sarah B.

Went here this morning for my caffeine fix. The place is located on the bustling corner of 17 and kingsley so it was quite busy. I ordered the green tea frappe which I felt was overpriced, @ $5. They only offer one size which seems to be medium. I love green tea but found the taste to be a little odd. Just not what I was expecting. The drink has milk as well as other additions so it was very sweet. We sat down at a wooden table and admired the modern rustic decor. I played attention to the food other customers ordered and they seemed to have a good array of well portioned choices. When throwing away my cup I noticed the trash bins labeled as "food" and "recycling". I very much appreciated the extra effort to recycle all of the plastic cups they hand out every day. I would very much like to return to try a different drink item and some food. Very cool place.

You just don't see enough places like this. Small, independent coffee shops usually don't make there way out to suburbia. Be thankful they did. This place makes some great coffee drinks, the atmosphere is hip and chic, but most importantly. ...Maple Bacon Glazed Donuts are served....do you need anything else?

Our whole family of four stopped in today we each got different sandwiches we all passed each one around sharing bites of The Big BLT Club half with cream of mushroom soup, BBC with homemade potato chips, Caprese Panini with pasta salad, and by far everyone's favorite The Park Avenue with kale chips . From the homemade soda, to the sandwiches, the soup, and the sides everything was amazing .

As a new girl from Texas to Florida, this place was refreshing! It was very reminiscent of the local coffee spots in Austin, TX. It was a little piece of home. This was my first time here and it seemed spacious inside and outside. The parking is a bit tricky as there were no spots available when I arrived at 9:45 a.m. on a Saturday. Don't park in front of the Business next door; you'll be asked to move or get towed. I met with a coffee group and the atmosphere was not so loud that we couldn't hear one another speak and there was plenty of room. Just arrive a little early to grab a table. I had a 20oz iced vanilla caramel latte with almond milk and it was great. It was equal parts strong and sweet with no over powering flavors. I also had an espresso doughnut. It was like a cake donut baked with espresso beans and an espresso icing. It was good but I could not finish it. The lunch items look great and I'm looking forward to trying that menu as well as the lemon blueberry mint tea. I'd come back daily if I could!

The atmosphere is great and inside is decorated so cute! I had a bagel breakfast sandwich and that was delicious. The coffee is just not good - having such a hard time finding a good cup of coffee here in Florida!

I have mixed feelings about this place. I think I need to go back a few more times and hopefully change my mind. First, I love that this place went into Orange Park. I don't like driving there and I hate how I feel like I'm in a sea of Chili's, Crapapples bees, Burger King, etc all I ever want to do is get out of Orange Park as soon as I get in there. Interior is wonderful and the place seemed to have a steady flow of people hanging out and coming and going. One thing I loved, which is a weird thing to love is the soap in the bathroom. Weird but it's what I remember the most about this place. Which is also not great when that's what I was the most excited about. My husband and I split a cinnamon roll and the sandwich with their house made onion jam. I switched it to turkey instead of ham. Sweet onion jam was really good. Cinnamon roll we were told was made in house with a lot of other pastries. A lot of items were made in house or locally sourced. It was good but not mind blowing but good. Drinks! I ordered an iced chai and they didn't make the chai blend in house but wasn't using tazo chai which I was thankful for. I hate that stuff. It was a pretty good chai mix. I noticed a ton of syrups all around. I beg of you that you start making your own syrups for your lattes. It makes a world of a difference. If you make almost everything else in house then start working towards that. The biggest down fall was my husband's cappuccino. It was awful and way too hot. Your milk should only be steamed to 150. I think this upset me so much because your name literally says coffeehouse and you put in plain sight you serve Counter Culture coffee and I love their coffee and felt like you weren't doing them justice. I was pretty sure that with their coffee you needed to be trained to properly serve their coffee. Maybe it was just this one person but there seemed to be a lot of employees back there. Hopefully by my review you'll revisit a few areas before getting stuck in a way. Still a new place so I'll hold off on going back but I will go back and make sure I write another review.

So happy orange park has something like this here, I'm usually traveling to riverside just so I can get this type of experience. I think since it's new they have some things to work on so I won't be too harsh. Their honey cinnamon latte was very good but kinda messy looking and for it being a coffee shop I kinda expect a little more aesthetics or flare to the delivery. I also got the strawberries and cream waffle boat which although being good not as big as expected, which I guess Is suppose to be just a light snack not a actual meal and came out a Lil cold... I'm giving them a decent rating because I think they have a lot of potential and could be my next bold bean.

Great coffee and handcrafted non alcoholic cocktails. Can't wait to go back and try out their sandwiches and desserts!

Our lattes were amazing!! And the bacon maple donut was probably the best donut ever!! Probably because it didn't taste like a donut, more like a muffin texture, but it was soooo good! The decor is awesome love all the industrial details! Staff was friendly and helpful with questions. Will definitely stop by again when in the area. :)

One of the best places to go in Orange Park. The bagels are second to none and they have a wide selection of coffee, lattes and/or espresso drinks. If you live in Orange Park and you crave a unique experience for breakfast or lunch then this is it.

This place was truly unique for Orange Park. Every detail of the look and feel of the place was thought out. I had a breakfast bowl that was a great price. It had cheese grits egg and sausage. Yum! The cold brew iced coffee tasted good as well. Why not a 5? They didn't have stevia.

I'm not a big coffee drinker in fact a lot of people look at me funny when I tell them what I drink. It's an old dog new tricks thing. Other then that this place is really nice with the exposed wood framing and the galvanized pipe light and tables that would take a gang of men to move them. A small group of us met there yesterday and it was really nice. The menu for your drinks are on the wall behind the counter. Then the food menu is on a regular sheet. I ended up with a lime habanero soda kind of drink. Remember that old dog thing from earlier. I also went with a sandwich called the BBC. It included roasted turkey, applewood bacon, brie and a sweet component of mango chutney. All of this on a perfectly toasted bread that looked and tasted house made. The place is so relaxing I could see sitting and visiting for you know an hour and a half like we did. We finished off the day with Debbie getting a round of their house made doughnuts of all. Everything from strawberry, pineapple upside down cake, and a coffee n bacon doughnut. In all a very nice place and meeting venue even if you don't drink the newest fashion coffees.

This coffee shop is a quaint truly enjoyable place!! I have enjoyed their coffee, sandwiches, breakfast, and juices! I would be careful when ordering macchiato it's authentic as they put it. To me it's completely different than I'm used to, it's basically a small shot of express here. The yogurt parfait is amazing!! They are beginning to have live music on Fridays which makes this place hoping at night!! They are open all day and have an awesome atmosphere!! The servers have always been friendly, and VERY helpful!!!

Arrived around 9:30 looking for a quick breakfast that wasn't a chain on the island. The restaurant had about 20 patrons inside. Unfortunately, only the small bistro size two topper tables were left and we were a party of 3. Several of the larger tables had singles who were spread out over tables with food and books. A few other tables with people reading, doing homework, having business meetings as well. A Coffee house is great, but who just wants to have a coffee duo? Would have liked a few more four too tables. The tables are bolted so they can't be joined together. Too humid this morning too eat on the empty patio. We decided to stay and scanned the menu. Waffle boats, bread & jam platter, donuts, paninis, egg bowls and a few other selections were typical coffee cafe kicked up a notch. At the counter there were a few lonely dessert selections and some cake donuts heaped with toppings like maple & bacon. Before we started to order we were told they were out of bagels, some pastries and all of their oatmeal. She said they had a rush and were wiped out already. Maybe they had a rush of grandmas who craved steel oatmeal because that's what mine wanted and when she heard they were out ....we were out the door. This might not be someplace I would want to bring my family on the weekends or meet with a larger party as the larger tables are high tops (no Bueno with kids) & it would be too crowded to just have a leisurely brunch. We will give them another shot at some point but now we know get there early to get a decent seat and grandma oatmeal:)

I want this place to be a five star but the cinnamon bun wasn't very good :/ coffee was good but I really think this place has to be great at everything in order to make it. Keep looking for a signature recipe. I really want to see you guys succeed and kill it. Best of luck.

Today I was very upset because I've been super excited to check out this new coffee house and I was a bit disappointed today. I went in with my husband when he first walked in and we were greeted asked if it was our first time in we said it was they simply said "cool" and walked off. So we can see the menu which is quite extensive. The girl is just standing there not asking any questions or giving and recommendations I'm having to recommend things to my husband and I don't work here. I ask about flavors she says hold on and starts reading from the register clearly don't know her menu. My husband got an iced Dirty Chai and mine iced Spicy Mocha Latte also got an oatmeal cookie for my son $11.05. Wait for a few minutes no body in front of us finally get our tiny hot beverages. I was gonna roll with it but my husband was Mr. excuse me sir this is not iced...yikes! Don't like complaining don't like making a scene but Mr. Robbin wanted his fixed. The barista was super nice about it but our hot drinks were poured in cold cups with ice put in it. I just wanted to posse outta there didn't say anything. What the guy did was actually against food safety rules. You cannot take steamed milk and pour it over ice. Then I walk to my car and noticed the drive thru is closed and has a trailer for a church revival blocking it!? Omg to say the least! The building in and out is beautiful menu is huge and also local ingredients. Downfall...I know when you first open there will be kinks to work out but when you can't remember your 6 flavors you have or simple food safety there's problems. I will be back I'll try once more I would like to try a pour over and salad. Do not try the oatmeal cookie mine had grease leaking out of it!

Decided to try this for lunch. I absolutely loved the decor, felt like you were walking into a very cool urban pinterest board. Now for the food, I had a salad that was good but not spectacular. Had way too much sweet dressing and not enough greens. Definitely should've asked for the dressing in the side. My husband got a grilled sandwich with apples ham and cheese that was really good. Also got a chocolate cappuccino "donut " and caramel roll to go. The roll was amazing! The donut was a muffin, if it had been labeled that way I would've thought it was a good muffin, but instead was looking very forward to a donut and was disappointed. Super friendly staff. Overall, excellent new place to try, and I plan to return.

I really WANT to like this place. Hope I can change the review later. But after 4 months of "we're almost open," they open with a strong "aw shucks, we're still training" vibe. Service is kind yet clueless and SLOW. Parking is atrocious, if you can manage to get in. Can't imagine opening the drive thru will help, given their food items are involved to prepare and service (again) is unnecessarily slow. Also, no cups not made of paper and no refill price for drip coffee. Still, they have the best coffee in Orange Park hands down. I hope they can adapt and improve!

Great atmosphere, The owners took forever to open this place up but they were doing it all by themselves. Did a fantastic job. Food was marginal but I'm hoping time will adjust this. Disappointed they didn't offer tea refills as every place I've EVER been to does as a courtesy. Even with this disappointment I'm sure I will come back and try it again.

To say that I was disappointed would be understatement. I've been waiting for months to try out Urban Bean.. I figure... hey give them time to work things out.. get processes into place.. get the systems working right.. So we were on a bike ride down 17, I'm running out of energy.. I NEED COFFEE.. Now is the perfect time to try out the Urban Bean, I've been following progress, following on Fakebook, Now is the time! We stop in around 1:30, not too busy, two people outside, maybe 5 inside. I look over the menu, it's 90 degrees outside so I want an iced coffee for sure.. I order a 16oz iced latte and I'm told they only have 12 or 20 ounce.. Ok.. but it's on the menu right? Fine.. I'm exhausted.. I'll take the 20 ounce and that maple bacon donut that looks so yummy.. The wife orders a bottled water.. $13.00.. No big deal.. I need sugar.. Careful what you ask for.. The frosting on the maple bacon donut still had raw sugar crystals in it.. like grains of sand.. not appetizing at all.. My riding partner took one bite and said "no way".. can't do it! So I tried all of the components separately.. first the frosting... then the bacon.. then the donut.. The frosting was a terrible texture, but had good flavor overall... The bacon was not impressive at all.. tasted cheap, the donut was actually very good and had a nice cake texture to it.. I should have ordered a plain donut.. Now to the coffee... It could have been the worst vanilla coffee I've ever had in my life.. I promise you.. someone left out the vanilla.. I went back inside and asked for more vanilla and was given ONE pump, I tried it again and it was still so strong, so bitter that I had to add 4-5 pumps of the sugar they have on the counter.. I didn't finish it..or the donut.. As a local that owns 3 business" in this area I respect the fact that the owner takes time to read yelp reviews and respond to them.. that means a lot to me and it should mean a lot to you as well.. so although my experience was not great.. I will give them another try because criticism only makes a business better in the end.. Until next time..

I am so glad I finally got to try this place! I had a cold brew coffee and a chocolate chip cookie. Both were excellent. They have a wonderful breakfast and lunch menu as well. Service is also very friendly. I cannot wait to return! The downside is that the drive thru is not open and the parking is challenging.

Customer service SUCKS! --------------------------------------------------- 19 August, 2015 - Review updated below. --------------------------------------------------- I might be the exception here but I've had three bad experiences at Urban Bean. - First visit was shortly after they opened. There were four other people waiting in line to place their order. One employee was ringing up one customer. FOUR other employees were standing around doing nothing. Apparently the employee at the register was the only one capable of taking orders. Very inefficient. I waited almost 10 minutes with no one taking my order before leaving. - Second visit was very similar to the first. There were three or four customers waiting in line and three waiting for their drinks. I asked how long they had been waiting for their coffees... One said "...a long time!" I turned around and left. - Third and last visit. No other customers in line, no one waiting for drinks and only one vehicle in the drive thru. There were four or five employees working, or at least there. It still took them almost 5 minutes to ring up my order and almost 10 minutes to make a simple Americano. (All visits were between 6:30 and 7:00 am on a weekday.) I don't care how good the coffee is. If you customer service is bad you will lose business. --------------------------------------------------- Alright, after seeing DuWayne's response I decided to give the place another shot as I firmly believe in supporting local, non-franchise businesses. Firstly, I refuse to "ask for the owner" in order to make my experience better. If you need the owner to provide personal service to ensure the customer is satisfied... you have more problems than you think. Are your employees poorly trained or not empowered to do their job properly or do they just not care? From my most recent, and absolute last visit, I think it's a combination. At it's root, Urban Bean is a coffee house and if you can't do coffee right, you're doomed and with poor customer service it's inevitable. Just like my previous visits, I hit up the place on my way to work. I was a bit worried as I pulled into the lot as there was a good handful of cars in the lot. This is a problem as the number of parking spots around the store is very limited unless you want to park in gold buyer store's lot and chance getting towed. I went in and just like before, there was a good number of people waiting for their drinks/food. I went up to the line and again noticed that there was only one person taking orders while apparently only one person making drinks. All the while I watched several other employees walking back and forth, seemingly lost... I stuck with it, ordered a simple latte and donut. Almost 15 minutes later I finally left to head to work. The coffee was weak and the milk was over steamed giving it a burnt taste. The donut was not fresh and way too sweet. ---------------------------------------------------- Lastly, I'm very suspicious and hesitant to believe many of the glowing 5 star reviews here.

Some of my key complaints (charge for refills (?!?) mediocre food, gross pastries) have already been touched on,so I will head straight to my two biggest complaints...The parking is horrible (I had to wait 10 minutes for some woman to finish texting so we could park) and the prices ! Almost $30 dollars for 2 meh sandwiches,a doughnut and a coffee and iced tea ! The chicken salad was plentiful, but mediocre, and the ham sandwich had like 3 very thin slices of ham that were overwhelmed by the cheese and onion . Those bake potato chips were salty and ice cold, greasy and flavorless at the same time ! I WANT to like it,the restaurant is cute as can be,but one more visit will seal its fate with me. Not impressed at all,but willing to give it another shot.

Let me begin by saying I'm not a complainer or into reviews. But recently I've been let down too many times by establishments in the Orange Park/Jacksonville area and figure I have to speak up at this point. I am a latte/espresso person and have visited several places, including Starbucks, regularly. This place is new and I live down the street from it. So, they have nice decor, an extensive menu with unique treats and exotic/gourmet drink offerings. Unfortunately, the employees are either too in-experienced or too young. The cashier was dim-witted and mucked up the order, the service was needlessly slow and the Barista, the "most inept I have ever seen." A simple/pricey 6oz. cappuccino was bungled and tasted terrible. Why? How are they gonna compete with this type of experience and service? It's too bad really, because It's very convenient for me and I like supporting local/independent establishments. Maybe it's growing pains for these guys, but they need to do better, seriously!

Have been looking for an urban coffee place near where I work and finally this opens up. Nice atmosphere and close by. Had the dirty chai and a bagel with strawberry honey, which they made up for me right then and there. Definitely worth the wait and will be going back again!

One of the best places to go in Orange Park. The bagels are second to none and they have a wide selection of coffee, lattes and/or espresso drinks. If you live in Orange Park and you crave a unique experience for breakfast or lunch then this is it.

I really, really want to like this place! I've been three times and each time it took forever to get my drink and the sweets were too sweet, just a sugary goopy mess. No distinct flavor to them, just sugar. :( maybe it'll get better as time goes on. Really cute place and the service was amazing, just need to tweak some stuff guus!

This place was truly unique for Orange Park. Every detail of the look and feel of the place was thought out. I had a breakfast bowl that was a great price. It had cheese grits egg and sausage. Yum! The cold brew iced coffee tasted good as well. Why not a 5? They didn't have stevia.

Let me start to say i have drove by this place everyday the last six months watching it slowly coming together i saw alot of hard work going into this place and alot of love. My husband would say wow that is great they are working at it again trying to get it going and done. So i notice they opened and was veery busy this past weekend. I have not been there yet but i am looking forward to trying some of the items on the menu.

Whether it's a coffee drink, or a sandwich, it's made to order, exactly how you want it with friendly service in a sophisticated yet laid back atmosphere. Great place!

I had the Apple Ham sandwich and it was very good. It was healthy and was tasty at the same time. Really look coffee house with lunch and dinner.

I've been eyeing this place for months before it opened and now this is my third time here. I'm very impressed by the extensive menu: sandwiches, flatbreads, soups, salads, bakery desserts. Just as impressive - and probably why you come in - is the beverages menu. I'm a fan of the Sweet Macha Latte and the Masala Chai Tea Latte, both smooth and creamy. I've also tried the Orange Tangerine hand-crafted soda and the Peach Blossom White tea - refreshing! The Bird, a breakfast panini, is delicious. A hearty morning sandwich with a little extra sweetness of strawberry jam. The Town Hall panini is great too, a fancy spin on a ham and cheese. Check out the local honeys and jams for sale as well! There is, very understandably, a bit of a wait as the staff gets into the swing of things but I don't think that should take anything away from the food experience. In fact, it shows you just how kind and community-oriented they really are. They're all doing a bang-up job so let them know.

My trip for a latte today was frustrated at the start as my favorite coffee shop in Green Cove Springs was jammed due to an arts festival and authors display. I decided to take a trip up to Orange Park and give the Urban Bean a try ... And I am so glad I did! A great Urban/industrial decor, plenty of outdoor seating, and friendly, smiling, and very helpful staff. I had a bagel and a large latte. They were delicious. A great looking selection in the pastry case. I will definitely return. Recommended!

I loved the atmosphere. I took a friend I had not seen in ten years there. We split the bacon donut. I chose this place because I'm kind of hippie and it represented well. The roobos Frappe was yummy. If you are not used to sugar, it's really sweet. My friend got a latte with a cute flower.

Third time was not a charm. I have been here three times since they've been open. Each time I come in hoping the visit would be better then the last. Unfortunately, this hasn't been the case. It's a charming little place, the decor isn't bad. It seems to be going for a trendy , industrial look. Definitely more Pinterest mom do it yourself type vs refined design though. Now to food and service, I think if I came here for straight up plain coffee it would be OK, but so far the things I've tried were a little blah, and pricey for what it was. First time I got Frappe's. I went in wanting a matcha tea one but they were out, cool no problem. So I asked for a different type of tea frappé but with almond milk. The girl says they actually don't recommend it being made with the milk alternative because it comes out a weird consistency. Ummm OK, so why put "choose your milk option", on the menu? So I go back to the ginormus, confusing menu, which BTW is really hard to read on the menu board so you better look for the suit case (there's that Pinterest influence again!lol) that's holding the menus. Finally I decide on something and it was just OK. I got 3 Frappe's and it was 85% ice because after 4 sips all you have left is semi flavorless slush. Definitely not worth the price. On to visit #2, came in with my young son on a Saturday for a little mommy and me date, who was looking forward to creating his own cake donut, I reviewed the menu online with him beforehand because that's how cumbersome the menu is! Well after waiting in line for a bit he's all excited to order and the counter girl says "Oh, umm I don't think we do that anymore?!" Really, I mean really? Wth? OK she didn't even seem that sure and I just have to point out that it was the menu in the store and online and STILL on the menu today! So moving on I ended up ordering him a non coffee drink and donut which he said was too sweet. Lol. He still had an ok time but this place seems to proving it's self more amateur with each visit. Now let's move on to visit #3. This was today Sunday morning. Moderate amount of people but not crazy busy. The only reason we came here was due the fact we were to tired(lazy)to drive to Brew or Boldbean in Riverside. I totally regret the choice now. Menu, still long and cumbersome but we made it through! I order the Power bowl and ice latte with almond milk, we figure hard to screw that up, right? BF ordered The Town Hall, no onion jam and vanilla cold brew latte, the drink was kinda confusing is it latte or cold brew coffee with vanilla syrup and milk? Well guess what? It came out as a regular ice coffee no vanilla no milk. He didn't mind that much and just had them add syrup & added cream. His panini had a crap load of onion jam in it though!! So much that even though he scraped it off it left the bread soggy. We chalked it up to the cashier not hearing me say no onion jam, no biggie, I later find out they did put it in no onion jam it's just the kitchen missed the request. Well here's when it gets even worse, my power bowl comes out finally and it has a HAIR right on top under a piece of sausage!!!! I try not to freak out and say things things happen . My bf brings it back and they say they'll get another one, no problem. After what seemed like forever she comes out and ask 3 different people if they were waiting on the power bowl . My bf walks up and gets it from her. I examine the food and it looks different , it actually is different! Less amount and this time they made it with regular eggs vs the egg whites it's supposed to be made with. At this point I'm not even hungry and just over it. I bring it back up and let them know of the issue and ask for a refund. That was the simplest part of my visit! I hate being a party pooper, I love supporting local businesses. We aren't snobs or super picky. At first I wrote it off as the place being new, but that's not really the case. Gordon Ramsey would have a field day with their crazy , confusing menu. With the other coffee establishments they don't try to offer 10 million things, they offer simple menus and strive to make those items high quality with superior service. Try to be more consistent rather then creating the next big thing. There's a lesson to be learned here Urban Bean- less is more! Ironically this review is long but I'm grouping three visits in one review.

I've waited a long time to try this place out. Mainly because the few other times I've tried there was no parking. Tried their new bagel and lox. Also tried the caramel apple latte. So good! Glad there was some parking this morning!

I use to live in Orange Park and was back in town for business. I came across this jewel and was so excited. I love visiting local coffee shops when k travel and it was such a treat to find this place. The ambiance is wonderful and the decoration is just perfect, looks like a Chicago, Atlanta or LA coffee joint. Had the latte and it was awesome. Will definitely make it a point to swing by when I am back in town.

Had a chance to meet up with some Yelpers to check this place out! The interior is very cool, a mix of industrial and rustic, with eclectic touches! (I love the community sign on the wall too!) The tables in the center of the restaurant are a little close together, so you may have to do some creative weaving to get to where you need to go. It was mid-afternoon, and I saw tea cocktails on the menu... and boy was I excited! Slightly disappointed when they explained to me there was no alcohol in them, lol, but that's ok. :) (They even said that maybe they should re-think that name.) Ordered up one of the tea cocktails (can't remember which, but something with blueberry, and was very refreshing!) and a ham and cheddar sandwich. You can tell this place is still new.... it took a bit to order and get our food, but no big deal! There was a nice little crowd in as well, so no worries. The ham and cheddar was really good: sliced black forest ham, cheddar, roasted red peppers, mango chutney on ciabatta. I'm not the biggest roasted red pepper fan, but it didn't bother me, as the mango chutney kinda stole the show..... it really set off the entire sandwich and I could probably just eat a jar of that alone! A very generous person bought a bunch of their donuts to share and I tried the maple bacon (delish) the chai, (interesting). The donut, and I could be wrong, was very plain without a lot of going on in it, (and just a tad dry) but I'm thinking that is on purpose, as the toppings are really the stars here. I'll definitely be back! Looking forward to trying their coffee next time!

The coffee was amazing! I had to wait in the drive through for 15 minutes, with only two cars ahead of me and when I got home, I realized my cup was leaking:(.

Had a great iced maple latte and pumpkin roll. I bet the roll would have been even better warmed up. I wasn't offered that but it occurred to me too late that I should have asked. Love that there is also a drive thru. I'd go every day if I lived in OP.

Urban bean was different. Minus a star for slow food delivery to my table when we ate in... I ordered a power bowl and coffee and my dad ordered a wrap and a coffee. And minus another star because I didn't really understand the identity of the restaurant- they had an expansive menu and not really a lot of coffee options- plus stars for delicious food once you finally decide on something and plus stars for really nice staff with good suggestions and another plus star for a really cool location. Will go back when I am not in a hurry to work and will try again to see how i feel about that giant menu after All

Urban Bean started to come together (at least on the outside) when I lived on that side of town but by the time it opened a month or so ago, I had moved 40 minutes away. Luckily, my parents and a lot of my friends live close by. After being inspired by Daniel B (from Atlanta)'s epic UYEs, I thought this might be a nice, chill place to plan my first UYE. They have a really nice, large patio and the whole place (inside and out) has a very inviting feel. Their (very extensive) drink menu is posted on boards behind the counter but the food menus are sitting in front of the register (there must be a better way to do this, there was a line basically the entire time we were there and it's confusing to know they have food but be unable to find a menu). The food menu also has lots of options but I went with their combo (bowl of soup, 1/2 salad or 1/2 sandwich). I got their veggie soup and their veggie sandwich (homemade roasted pepper hummus, cucumbers, roasted red pepper, red onion, spinach, romaine on artisan whole wheat) and an iced latte. A few other reviews mention that it seems like the staff is still learning and that was my experience, too. The girl who helped me was nice but seemed a little overwhelmed and confused by the system. The soup was really great. I'm a big soup fan and this soup really felt homemade, chock full of veggies (tomatoes, cauliflower, corn, spinach, etc). It would be a fantastic soup to beat back a cold. The sandwich was also very good, lots of crispy veggies on a very nice bread. The hummus was served on the side so I ended up eating it with my chips instead of on my sandwich. Very clearly homemade, lots of flavor. The iced latte was okay, didn't blow me away but very drinkable. When Debbie F showed up, she got a big platter of their donuts and oh, wow. The only one I tried was the maple bacon (I was already stuffed). Lots of toppings and a nice donut underneath. I'm glad I finally got a chance to check out the Urban Bean and I'll be back when I'm in the area. They seemed very busy while we were there and I hope that continues for them. Big thanks to Allie, Adam, Mark, and Debbie for joining me, it was a nice afternoon stop!

3 stars for the drinks, 4 for environment. My sparkling long black was interesting and had potential as a coffee drink, but all the sweetness was on the bottom, and because it was a cold drink, I couldn't stir it through. The space was good though. Very hipster, in a sort of rustic industrial sort of way. Lots of different seating options-- mostly tables, but also bar stools and comfy chairs. Cozy without feeling crowded. The atmosphere definitely lends itself to long conversations, and is pretty kid friendly, but not a place I'd bring my computer to get any work done.

Another coffee wonder in JAX, with its own unique flair. This place popped up right along 17 in Orange Park, and is finally open for your indulgence. Located right across the street from where the OP festivals take place, it's relatively easy to get to - just don't park at the corner store next door! You'll see the really cool style of this place right away, with the palates and cement stone decor lining the building. Aloes and other succulents line the insides of some of the blocks and palates, and the combo makes for a calming, urban feel. Thus the name of the place. The patio is a fun place to be, and I want to come on a nice summer evening to take it all in with the lights they have strewn across the awning. When you walk inside, the awe continues as you see the spotlit silver espresso machine at the focus of it all. The inside decor continues the urban theme, down to the toilet paper roll holders in the bathroom. The menu is clear and well organized, with many options to choose from. The case to the left of the order station contains their sweet treats... More to come on those. We've been a couple of times, and at both I ordered a UB Breakfast Sandwich. It is a bagel or English muffin with egg, cheese and you can add sausage or bacon. I prefer the bacon, but the sausage is flavorful as well. The bagel had to be homemade or artisan - it's thinner than most you would buy at a store. They have great presentation, as you will see from some of the pictures. I have also had the pleasure of trying an espresso crumble donut (all of their donuts are homemade, like their pastures), and a humongous cinnamon roll. Both mouthwatering good. They sure do their sweets well! The vanilla latte is great, as you would expect from a place like this. My wife's had their cold brew iced coffee and gives it a thumbs up. So many options I have to go back again and again! Try it - you'll love it!

Cute coffee shop. I love the feel of the atmosphere . I surely didn't feel like I was in Orange Park Fl ! It has a relaxing Urban feel. They had 2 guitar players playing live music . I came in for dinner and coffee for dessert . The dinner was the mozzarella and spinach panini which I had them add chicken which was a prime choice and then I had a Cappaciono which to me tasted too bitter even when I added a ton of sugar . Considering it's a coffee bar I was hoping the coffee would blow me away but unfortunately it was the food and atmosphere that got me this time . I will go back for sure . Super friendly staff !

The food here is spectacular! While I'm personally not a fan of the lattes, the spicy chai tea is wonderful and the doughnuts are crazy good! If you get a chance, try the maple glazed bacon doughnuts... Seriously. The pineapple upside down doughnuts are also the bomb! It's not just a breakfast place either. This is one of my new favorite sand which shops. Completely delicious.

Seriously. 5-Stars : )

Tried their frappe for the first time yesterday & fell in love!!! Not too sweet, perfect amount of bold coffee flavor. I had the chocolate frappe, but they have several different ones. Much better than Starbucks! Better taste, better quality ingredients!

    There were so many options, I was a bit lost. I asked the girl to make one and surprise me...the tea was delicious! Rooibos tea with almond milk and raw peach honey! Never had a tea so good! So happy to a gem in the OP area. Highly recommend! {skip the starbucks and go organic/local}
